So, somehow I deleted/missed the numerous email notifications from GoDaddy to renew my domain name…..still so shocked I missed them.

I clicked on my site to find nothing there. I contacted GoDaddy and found out my domain name (Pocket Knives Blog) was up for auction. I bid but was outbid in the end.

Fortunately I was able to renew my hosting and my wife moved all my info to this new website – PocketKnifeReview.com.

So sorry for any confusion.

BEAR OPS Tactical Knife Review USA made

by Scott Rauber on January 23rd, 2020 at 8:38 am
Posted In: Pocket Knife Reviews, Uncategorized

This will be an updating review.  I’ll add to it frequently…..so stay tuned.

I’m impressed…..I’ll start there. WOW….is my next reply.

Fact: I contacted (I like that better than the new school “reached out”) to BEAR Cutlery in Alabama in Oct, 2019 via email seeking to

review a knife from their line up.

The folks @ Bear Cutlery selected this BEAR OPS.  I received it Nov. 15, 2019.

Fact: I’ve carried this almost daily since then and have been and still am happy, very happy actually, with this tactical style pocket clip EDC knife.

Around Christmas I prepared a pan of vegetables for cooking. I cut green peppers, carrots, potatoes, orange peppers all with this knife!

I also sliced a cucumber for peanut butter….oh yes! Try it on a sandwich!!

Whittling bark off a Cypress branch for a walking stick.

Jan. 23, 2020….STAY TUNED!!!!

From past couple days:

UPDATE: 2/7/2020

Cut an orange today and wanted to be sure the sticky was gone. Out of my pocket it came and I rubbed it clean with some Isopropyl Alcohol.

I thought, let me check the edge.  I stropped it a couple times and attempted to cut paper. It was ok, but not what I like.

I stroked the BEAR OPS RECON on a super hard/smooth stone. Then stropped. YES. Perfect! Just the way I like it.

I also cut cardboard and rope.

Stay tuned….this is a running/updating review!!

Feb. 26, 2020

I cut the thread on a replacement button to be used where one was missing. I was impressed.

I’ve been carrying this pocket knife almost daily and my main drawback I just discovered. The jimping on the spine, near the tang area, can rub against your hand when entering your pocket if clipped on the lip of your pocket……IF you have pockets that are smaller. Just a note. But that’s the only downfall I’ve discovered with this USA made knife!!!

UPDATE: April 26, 2020

Well, here we are almost 5 months after this knife review began.  Washed her this morning then hit the edge with my stropping board and ceramic rod, and wooolah! Right back into sharpsville!!

I highly recommend this knife for daily use with complete confidence!!

Schrade PH2N Uncle Henry Mini Pro Hunter Knife Review

Schrade Uncle Henry Review Mini Pro Hunter PH2N

Carried first time Sep. 10, 2019 (also the date of purchase) I obtained this from a pawn shop for $10.00!!!!

I’ve used this Mini Pro Hunter for a number of tasks and each time it delivers a smooth cut just as you would expect any knife to do.

Ok, this part is personal. I this small fixed blade knife. I now can carry (on my belt) a fixed blade knife that doesn’t hang down to my pocket making it barely visible. I like that I don’t have to carry a full size fixed blade.

Just redid the edge today 11/16/19

It also fits perfectly in my hand and because the knife is small 6 ¾” overall length (OAL) I feel the blade (just a smidge over 2 1/2″ usable inches) is almost a part of my hand and no power is lost in the use. Does that make sense?  When I use a standard fixed blade knife say like a Case 365-5 or my Condor Bushlore knife I feel like half of the blade gets very little use. On this Schrade PH2 I feel like all of the blade is in use and in

control!

Staglon Handles

Nickel Silver Guard

7Cr17MoV Steel comparable to 440A

Full Tang

Had to put new edge 1/6/2020

I’m simply blown away by this small fixed blade knife. It’s just, yeah, I know…a cheap import. I know, believe me, I’ve been trying to convince myself it’s no good and will fail and crumble in my hands,,,,but dang nabbit, this knife is mowin’ down each task I put in front of it. And it’s crushing each time!

Making wooden spoons and forks over the past few months I’ve whittled mils of shavings and curls, so if you are into woodcraft, bushcraft, making tinder, etc this knife performs amazingly over and over!!

You’ll see I noted dates when I sharpened the knife.  I also hone it in between uses on a leather strop to keep the edge keen!!

Bottom line…..if I don’t have this imported Mini Pro Hunter Schrade Uncle Henry on me, I WANT IT ON ME!!!!

But, I didn’t like the sheath, so I am using a different one. The reason I didn’t like the stock sheath was because it is too difficult to get the knife in and out…….

Thanks for reading. If you’d like this knife:

Kershaw NATRIX 7008OLBLK Knife Review

Kershaw NATRIX 7008OLBLK Knife Review

Hey, I’m a fan of any knife that all I have to do to sharpen is strop!  I’ve owned this knife for close to a year…just before Christmas 2018. It’s position has been mostly by my side at my desk to cut cardboard and open packages. Today Sep. 10, 2019 I stropped it on a homemade cutting board with leather belt glued to it and razor sharp….AGAIN!!!!

Hard to beat! Sharp knife is life! BOOM!!!

Now, my only snaffou is the liner lock thumb release.  It is just too secluded for my thumb nail to nab and push down.

I constantly have to use both hands to close. Not a HUGE deal, but I prefer one hand operating knives to, well…..you know operate with one hand.

This flipper style pocket knife is bigger than normal compared to let’s say a Kershaw Zing, or Kershaw Leek. Or about an inch longer than a SOG FLASH II.

Steel? Oh yes, it’s that renowned 8Cr13MoV, flat black color. Olive green drab scales. Light and tight!

8 ½” OAL (Overall length)

Kershaw NATRIX XL knife pocket clip is adjustable for 2 positions with tip UP in both cases, right or left side. So when the knife is extracted from the pocket, no rotating requited, just press the spine knob and out it slips. Now, please note, there is no spring so this is NOT ASSISTED OPEN pocket knife.  Just so ya know!

The longer I use and handle a knife I feel a better review can be delivered.  Knifers who receive a knife in the mail and complete the review in a 7 minute video, don’t really deliver a thorough knife review IMO!

Overall, as I stated from the get-go……Sharp knife is LIFE!!
