Schrade Cut Co Walden NY Knife Butter & Molasses
on November 12th, 2013 at 6:24 pmGot a minute for a quick little story about this knife?
I walk into an estate sale last week and a I see a coffee can with numerous knives sticking out. I fall into a mesmerized state of bliss as I believe I’ve found the MUHGILLA SCORE of vintage American made knives.
Immediately I grab the can off the bench…..there were probably 10 knives in it! All had round stickers with a 10 or a 5 on them. Heck, I’ll give them more than a nickel or dime for each I’ll give them like $3.00 for ALL (thinking I was being generous).
As I start to scan the garage for other tempting deals, the estate sale attendant asks…..”You’re gonna buy ALL of those?” Being the wise A$$ that I am I thought…..why is there a law against buying all of them….but I didn’t say anything except….YEAH – I figure I’ll give you 3 bucks for all of ‘em!
She gives me that tilted head look only a dog can make, and says, “Those are priced in dollars.”
Are you kidding me I silently think…..as I turn and place the entire can o’ knives back on the table.
Dang blast it!! Oh well, there went the mother load score of knives.
HOWEVER, I was able to pull this vintage Schrade Cut Co. Walden NY Knife out of the pile even though I could not read the tang stamp (and can only barely see it now). The reason I bought it was because of the cool Butter & Molasses celluloid handles!!
The tang stamp dates is this 2 blade knife to 1917 – 1946. You can barely see the stamp on the pen blade, pile side.
